Jacob is 3 1/2 !!!!!

I never did a post about jacob being 3 1/2 so i thought i would now....

I will say these last 6 months have been pretty rough and definitely 3s are harder than 2s for Jacob.

Jacob is much more confident in himself and sees himself as a very big boy who is the boss and independant ! He will argue you to death when it comes to having him clean up his toys, get dress, use the potty when you want him to, play nicely with his sister, or go to bed without reading that 1 last book. He has NO FEAR when it comes to life, strangers, and danger- everything he will try to do and everyone he will talk to and just trys to do and be independant with everything he does!
As far as physical goes: He can hit a ball with perfection-jimmy and jacob proudly play baseball every night and jacob has much improved with his batting and throwing skills, he can hit a ball out of our backyard now! He jumps, skips, runs, walks up and down stairs correctly, climbs the cabinets without chair assistance, flips, sumersaults, and bounces on one foot all with perfection.. he is definitely an active busy boy and moves all the time!!!
As far as fine motor goes: He loves to write the letter J still and can also write the letters L, O, Z and a few others i believe.. still draws faces with stick legs but not quite there yet with that.. also working on holding a pencil correctly still too.. He is also VERY good at biting his toenails and fingernails down to the bone, arghh.. that's his only bad habit at this time and so far the nasty nailpolish is NOT working.. we are talking to the dr. about this next week as one of his big toes do not look pretty because of it.
Language: He is definitely a talker and getting better everyday.. he talks nonstop and you can pretty much understand everything coming out of his mouth now and its all sentences.. Still kind of 'babyish' sounding but definitely he gets out everything he wants to say and more!! He also has learned 2 bad words (that he knows of) and uses them when he's being naughty- they are poo poo and stupid.. I will no longer let him know when a word is bad and just ignore them if he uses them because once he knows then he uses them to make you mad and so far no amount of soap in the mouth has quit him of his dirty talk... He sings his ABCs, can count to 13 without assistance- to 2o with assistance. Finally understanding most his colors, but still can't say them right everytime (i swear he's colorblind!)
Favorites: food-pizza, fruit, noodles and anything he thinks is a SNACK toys-his bike, bat/ball, bubbles, dinosaurs, books, trains, cars, playfood, and anything to do with going OUTSIDE books-about dinosaurs, monsters, going down the drain, bugs, and jesus songs-jesus loves me, abcs, this little light of mine , pooh nighttime singing buddy song, and wheels on the bus
kid friends- Eli and parker (his cousins) and yes he loves his sister too- he calls her Baby, Leah, or Sissy TV- we don't watch alot of tv but if its on he'll usually ask for Caillou, Cars, Toystory, Dora, or VeggieTales
Jacob is around 37-38inches tall now and around 31-32 pounds.. probably around 25% for his age still- he always follows that curve
He is a loving boy, begging you to sleep with him at night and sleep with him for 'just a little minute' or to 'hold him tight' he loves to cuddle you, hold you tight and play games while cuddling in bed.. he loves to hear stories and to be read too.
He is finally daytime pottytrained although he does get lazy and will just wet himself at times, i do not enjoy those times at all!! he still wears pullups at night. He sleeps from 7p-730am and still has to have a 3hr nap midday, without that nap our evening goes downhill!
He also is having the worst tantrums too, we have more bad days then bad moments and so if the morning starts off wrong usually the whole day will go wrong and then their will be days he's only out to please us and i find myself not having to discipline him at all.... I think its me that has less patience then him behaving badly soo much. I need to focus on the good moments and block out the tantrums at times for sure.
I love my Jacob more than anything and i know there is no little boy like him with soooo much energy, personality, and can make me laugh as much as he does and yet he can push my buttons soo much I feel like I want to give up!
He starts back to preschool next month riding the bus and being in Mrs. Graumenz class again- I hope he has a good year and am sure he will amaze me with all he learns once again.
