Happy Valentine's Day!
Jacob had a follow up dr. appointment today since he has gotten his respiratory infection. He is breathing easier and it shows that on the oxygen saturations, now 96-98%.. so i hope we are over the hump of this virus. He is still using the nebulizer but not needing it as often, only getting congested now after feedings or when awake and crying. His lungs aren't perfectly clear but he has a good strong cough that seems to be helping to clear this virus out. We started him on his zegerid yesterday for the acid reflux.. so much easier i just express a little milk and mix the powder with that and then nurse him afterwards, it has a strong minty odor to it, so i can't imagine that it tastes any good. Thank God for insurance, because for a months supply, it would have cost us $280 for this drug, with the insurance it is only $36 , and i imagine he'll only be on the expensive powder form until he can tolerate solids better, so it shouldn't be too long. I just hope his coughing goes away and no longer screams out in pain when he refluxes... i guess time will tell once this drug starts taking effect. Otherwise he is doing great, smiling more and more everyday and "coohing" tons.. He also in his sleep laughed out loud several times with big smiles, i can't wait until he does that deliberately at one of us when he's awake. He's getting so big that actually several of his 0-3 months clothes are no longer fitting him and he is only almost 7 weeks now!! He is getting big fast. In fact, he was just 10 pounds 10 ounces four days ago and now he is 11 pounds 3 ounces!! growing like a weed. Jacob has also been very good to us at night, over the last week he has slept anywhere from 5-6 hours in a row about 4 out of the 7 nights and the other 3 he gave us at least one 4 hour stretch.. other than that he is usually like clock work for feedings at every 3 hours... he still sleeps alot, sleeps probably most of the day except for an hour here or there and then awake about 3-4 hours in the evening. well, I will write more later, Jacob just awoke for his next feeding.
